Scottish Fold Breed Poll

Scottish Fold Breed Poll

Prepared by: Votenet Solutions

Poll Results

  • Do you want Scottish Straights (the straight eared cats born in typical Scottish Fold litters) to be advanced to a Championship breed?

Rational: This would make the Scottish Straight a separate breed from the Scottish Fold but still with the same outcrosses as the Fold. This would change nothing other than to allow us to show and title our straight eared Folds. It would be like having a longhair and shorthair in the same litter where one is a Scottish Fold and one is a Scottish Fold Longhair. They are the same but have different names and compete separately. There would be Scottish Straight and Scottish Straight Longhair. These cats are recognized and handled this way in at least 5 other associations worldwide.

    PASSED

Household Pets

TICA does not promote the breeding of Household Pets nor non-domestic outcrosses used in a breeding program and therefore the use of a cattery name in the prefix position is not allowed.

Pay for your Titles

Pay for your Titles - If your cat received notification of a title, that's great news, but don't stop there! The letter you received is only a courtesy notice (letting you know that your cat is title eligible) - you must pay for the title confirmation through the TICA Executive Office (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), in order for the title to become official! After you pay for your title, don't forget that you have also earned bragging rights! Announce your cat's new title in the TREND, as a TRENDSETTER! Share your TICA pride with TICA's world!

Membership Dues Change

If you pay before May 1st, you may still pay the old rate. Create an account on our online system, TDS ONLINE (https://online.tica.org ), and then click on JOIN TICA!

To see all rates, view our updated pricelists.

Title Discount Program

This option can only be paid upon receipt of the form and registration of a cat/kitten/alter/HHP/HHP kitten that has never been shown, OR upon receipt of the form and transfer of a cat/kitten/alter/HHP/HHP kitten that has never been shown. It's important to note here that if you use the rule that your cat can be shown pending once in TICA, then you MAY NOT use the Title Discount at Registration Program.

Some of you may have already received letters informing you of titles earned. If you had recently applied for the titles listed on the letter, you may disregard the letter. The letters inform you of the titles your cats have qualified for and the cost of the titles required for you to receive the certificates.

Titles will be processed in batches and letters will be sent out when all the catalogs for one weekend are completed and audited for mechanical errors.

Voluntary Responsible Breeder Program

OUTSTANDING CATTERIES

Voluntary Responsible Breeder Program

In keeping with the Mission and Policy Statements of TICA, the Voluntary Responsible Breeder Program has adopted the Cattery Evaluation Program and the Voluntary Code of Ethics. The goal is to provide education, information, and guidance to breeders so that they are aware of proper husbandry and cattery management techniques. The Cattery Evaluation Program will recognize TICA Outstanding Catteries and TICA Catteries of Merit.

EVALUATOR
The actual cattery evaluation must be done by a licensed small animal veterinarian. The breeder may engage his/her regular veterinarian for this task. It is important for the veterinarian to place emphasis on the overall impression of health and well-being of the cats in the cattery during the evaluation and decision making process. Often cattery set-ups involve the entire household. For example, bedrooms and bathrooms may be utilized for birthing and/or isolation areas of the cattery. In addition, it is important for the evaluator to allow for the odor of any whole male cat in residence. However, it is not allowable to experience the stale odor of cats permeating the residence. It is hoped that the dialogue between the veterinarian and breeder will be an educational experience.

SCORING METHOD
The veterinarian is to score the form in the presence of the breeder. Each individual rating of "Excellent" receives 2 points, each "Satisfactory" receives 1 point, and each "unsatisfactory" rating receives 0 points. Any Not Applicable (N/A) rating receives a score of 2 points. Multiply the total number of "excellent" ratings plus "N/A" ratings by 2, and enter this figure on the line following "Excellent". Add the total number of "Satisfactory" ratings and enter this figure on the line following "Satisfactory". Add the two figures together and enter the sum in the appropriate space. The best possible score is 88 points. A total score of 75 points or more receives an overall "Outstanding" rating and the breeder will be sent an "Outstanding Cattery" certificate. A total score of 58-74 points receives an overall "Satisfactory" rating and the breeder will be sent a "Cattery of Merit" certificate. A score below 58 points results in a failed rating. Once the problems in the cattery have been rectified, the breeder may resubmit a request to TICA for another Cattery Evaluation Form and have the cattery evaluated again.

THE CATTERY CERTIFICATE
The original (white copy) of the Cattery Evaluation Form is to be submitted by the breeder to TICA together with the $30 fee. The yellow copy is for the breeder's records, and the pink copy is for the veterinarian's records. Upon receipt of the white copy of the form and the fees, the Executive Office will furnish the breeder the appropriate certificate. These certificates must be renewed on an annual basis.

Feline Welfare Committee

TICA COMMITTEES

Feline Welfare Committee

The main purpose of the feline welfare committee (FWC) is to deal with issues and complaints dealing with feline welfare. The FWC has other projects that the members are working on. We are working on a new breeder packet that will be available through the EO for new breeders. We will be starting a series of articles about the different aspects of feline welfare. these articles will possibly be published in the TICA trend or on the TICA website. All the FWC members are promoting the voluntary responsible breeder program/cattery of excellence program. The FWC committee is also working with TICA's rescue committee on several educational items.
