Meet Roeann Fulkerson

I am very pleased to introduce Roeann Fulkerson, TICA's new Director of Marketing and Business-to-Business Sales.

Roeann comes to TICA with extensive experience in marketing, sales, and business-to-business development and we look forward to her applying this experience towards marketing cats, the cat fancy and TICA. Roeann is certainly not a newcomer to either the dog or cat fancys, having over thirty-five years experience of successfully breeding and exhibiting purebred dogs and pedigreed cats.

For most of her career, Roeann was a successful businesswoman, whose love of the cat fancy eventually found a purrfect match for her as Director of Marketing for the Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA). With her recent departure from CFA, we were fortunate to entice her to join us and to continue to combine her love of the cat fancy with the challenge of the business world.

Welcome, Roeann, to TICA!

Royal Canin: Pregnancy Diagnosis

Once the queen has been bred, the breeder is often anxious to know whether she is pregnant. There are traditional means of pregnancy detection in the queen. The failure of a queen to come back into heat after breeding is one of the most obvious signs of pregnancy, but a pseudopregnancy will produce the same effect. However, queens experiencing a pseudopregnancy will not usually return to heat until 50 to 60 days after the last estrus.

The behavior of some queens may change during pregnancy. Those that are typically distant may become very affectionate, and vice versa, although this phenomenon is inconsistent. The queen will continuously gain weight during pregnancy. Without precise weighing however, it will be difficult to distinguish any change until week three or four. - Read More

What's the #1 behavioral reason cats are ... abandoned, surrendered to shelters or put to sleep?

Inappropriate elimination is the number one behavioral reason cats are abandoned, surrendered to shelters and put to sleep. It can be a frustrating situation to deal with. Following is Precious Cat's Five Step Program – to help solve the problem of cats not using the litter box. Also, remember that if your cat is house soiling the initial step is to visit your veterinarian to rule out any medical problems.

First, replace your current litter with Cat or Kitten Attract. Cat and Kitten Attract were designed to be texture friendly to cat's paws. Cats are very texture driven that is why some textures of litter just don't appeal to them. The texture of the litter can be an issue as to why cats will not use the litter box. Both of these litters also have the natural herbal attractant added to them so they do draw the cats to the litter box by smell. - Read More
