From the President’s Desk: A Message from TICA President Vicki Jo Harrison

Dear TICA Friends,

The results of the Fall election are available in this newsletter. Thanks to each of you who exercised your right to vote. And thank you to all those who chose to run for office and breed committee to serve the membership of TICA.

I humbly thank you for your confidence to re-elect me as your President. Congratulations to Dr. Liz Brown for being elected TICA's Vice-President.

Congratulations to all those elected to their respective breed committees. For those breed committees who were not filled, they will remain inactive. The committees can be filled by qualified members being appointed by the TICA Board of Directors. If your breed committee is inactive, contact your respective breed chair to see how you can help get your breed committee active.

As we draw closer to the end of 2023, I would like to extend holiday greetings to everyone in TICA’s world. I hope this holiday season brings each of you much happiness and peace. Looking ahead, I am excited for another year of continued success and growth while building on the strength of TICA. I am incredibly excited about this journey and honestly believe the best of TICA is yet to come.

Wishing each of you Happy Holidays and a happy and healthy end to 2023!

As always, I wish each of you good health. Please stay safe and hug your kitties tight!

Vicki Jo Harrison
TICA President

Learn How TFMS/TOES Integration Cuts Down on Manual Tasks and Processing Time

Did you hear the news that the TFMS/TOES integration, which is reimagining and refining the way TICA cat shows are orchestrated and evaluated, launched last month.

Over the past few years TICA has constantly been striving to improve the experience of our exhibitors and show organizers. The TFMS/TOES integration will drastically cut down the manual tasks and processing time. Among the features:

  • Seamless Unified Access: Say goodbye to juggling multiple credentials with one username and password for both TOES and TFMS.
  • Instant Data Retrieval: Your Registered Cats' details will be at your fingertips in a flash from TFMS.
  • Judges' Information: The Judge’s information will now be sourced directly from TFMS.
  • Enhanced Promotional Features: Incorporating TICA Sponsored banners into your profile is now just a checkbox away.
  • Automated Show Licensing: Streamlining your show setup, the Show License Application is now a breeze with automation.
  • Accelerated Score Delivery: As a member, you'll be able to view your scores in TFMS as soon as they're official.

If you haven’t already, log into your TFMS account and check out how this game-changing enhancement will greatly improve your TICA experience.

TICA 2024 Annual Venue Change: What You Need to Know

Due to some unfortunate circumstances out of TICA's control, the location of the 2024 TICA Annual, originally planned for Chantilly, Virginia, has been changed.

The 2024 TICA Annual, presented by the Central Jersey Cat Fanciers, will now take place August 31-September 1, 2024, at the Hampton Roads Convention Center in Hampton, Virginia.

Early bird entries have been extended until December 15, 2023. Sign up now before the prices go up! You will also need to fill out a summary sheet in TOES to complete your registration.

If you need to cancel your entry due to the change of events for the show, please email Entry Clerk Toni Jones at tica2024annual@gmail.com.

Hotel Information: Those who have already booked their hotel at the Marriott in Chantilly are advised to cancel their reservations as soon as possible and rebook their stay at the Embassy Suites in Hampton, VA.

The hotel and convention center are located next to each other with a covered walkway linking the two buildings. Free parking is available at both the hotel and convention center. As an added benefit, hotel rates include a full cooked-to-order breakfast.

Flight Information: For those flying, Norfolk Airport is the closest airport (ORF). There are direct flights from most large metropolitan airports. International travelers can connect at a hub airport.

Visiting the Area: Hampton, Virginia has many tourist attractions, including museums, a zoo, botanical gardens, and beaches. The area is known for its many seafood restaurants. Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens are just 30 miles away. The area is also home to Norfolk Naval base, one of the largest U.S. Naval bases including a WWII battleship.

We look forward to you joining us for a weekend of fabulous felines, fun, and friendships!

Share Your Expertise and Help Grow the TICA Community

The TICA Mentor Program is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our committee and become a part of something truly special.

The TICA Mentor Program was established to promote TICA through qualified exhibitor and breeder mentors. As a mentor, you'll have the opportunity to guide and support new members interested in showing and/or breeding cats. You'll share your knowledge and expertise to help build a strong and more vibrant TICA community, while making new friends and having fun along the way.

We're looking for qualified mentors to pair with applicants from all regions to join our Mentor Committee, so don't miss out on this exciting opportunity!

And if you're interested in taking on a leadership role, we have a special opportunity to become our committee chair. The committee chair will be responsible for accepting applications, passing them along to their respective regional liaison, and answering any questions that may arise. If you are interested in taking on this leadership role, please let us know as soon as possible.

For more information on TICA’s Mentor Program or to volunteer to become a mentor, serve on the committee, or apply to become the committee chair, please email TICAGLRD@gmail.com.

Together, we can create a strong and supportive mentor network that will foster growth and camaraderie among our members.

TICA Great Lakes Regional Director, Liz Brown:

Liz Brown

Dear Members of TICA Great Lakes,

After seven incredible years of being your Regional Director, I’m now moving to the role of Vice President for TICA. While this new role will keep me busy working for the entire organization, I want you to know that my heart will always remain in the Great Lakes region.

It has been an absolute honor and privilege to serve as your Regional Director and I cannot express enough how much I have cherished every moment spent with all of you. The Great Lakes region holds a special place in my heart, and I am grateful for the unwavering support, dedication, and passion that each of you has shown throughout my tenure.

Though my responsibilities may have expanded, I want you to know that I will continue to work diligently to uphold the values and goals we have set for TICA, not only in the Great Lakes but for the entire organization. Your trust and confidence in me have allowed me to take on this new role and I am committed to ensuring that TICA continues to thrive and grow.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for being a part of this incredible journey. The memories we have created together will forever hold a special place in my heart. I look forward to continuing to work with all of you, now in a different capacity, to make TICA even stronger and more successful.

Show Rule Reminder Any cat or kitten from a house or cattery where there has been fungus or any infectious or contagious illness within 21 days prior to the opening date of the show is ineligible for entry and/or exhibition.

To ensure a safe environment for everyone, please make sure all cats attending the show are properly vaccinated with the FVRCP and rabies vaccine. This will not only help your cats, but also the cats in the show hall.

It is crucial to prioritize the health and safety of all the cats in the show hall.   Bringing unvaccinated cats can pose a risk of spreading contagious diseases.

I have asked the clubs to remind judges, clerks, and stewards about the need for extra precautions when handling and cleaning the cages to ensure the safety of all our feline participants. By doing so, they will be taking proactive steps to minimize any potential risks and promote a healthy environment for everyone.

Thank you for being mindful of this important matter!
