TICA’s Kat Knappers Cat Club Spreads TICA’s Message to Local Kids
Working with the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center in Riverside, CA, TICA’s Kat Knappers Cat Club donated more than four hundred 2018 Siamese coloring books and crayons to the center to provide take-home learning opportunities for critter-loving kids.
Aside from giving homeless pets food and shelter, providing fun and entertaining educational packages to kids while they are asked to stay at home is paramount.
TICA thanks Kat Knappers Cat Club for extending TICA’s generosity to help kids stay occupied and informed during this unprecedented time. Your compassion shows no limits.
Tired of Traveling Outside of Norway to Attend Events, Agneta Canpolat Creates Fire and Ice Cat Club
After showing cats at TICA events for nearly 10 years, Agneta Canpolat was tired of have to fly to attend shows. Other than those hosted by the TICA Denmark club Vikingcats, Norway had not hosted a show in the past eight years.
After attending a show in January, Agneta decide it was time to do something about it and bring a TICA club and show to Sweden. Norway had already had shows in the past, but until now, even while there are a couple clubs in Sweden, they haven’t been successful in arranging events.
With the help of TICA Europe North Regional Director Liesbeth van Mullem and friends Katharina Krenn, Nicki Fenwick-Raven, and Nicky Goulter the Fire and Ice Cat Club was formed, with the intent to host a show in Sweden.
Agneta found a venue in the picturesque town of Uppsala, close to both the Stockholm and Arlanda airports. She invited Monica Darny, Åsa Broing and Nicki Fenwick-Raven as judges. Finticat helped by loaning judge cages and tables. Their secretary also helped Agneta plan the show. Lorraine Shelton offered to come from the USA to serve as Master Clerk and run a clerking school and a genetic seminar.
The first TICA Fire and Ice Cat Club is planned for July 11-12 at the Uppsala Boulehall in Uppsala Sweden. The event will serve as the first TICA show in Sweden.
Excited by hosting TICA cat shows in Sweden, Agneta has already started planning three shows for the 2021-2022 season, set for show halls in Alingsås and Borlänge.
TICA Essential Worker Spotlight:
TICA Thanks South Central Regional Member Jonna Inman for Keeping Us Safe and Enjoying Cat Shows
At the center of the coronavirus pandemic, there are those who go into work each day to keep us safe. Essential workers, such as health-care professionals, firefighters, police officers, janitorial workers, grocery store employees, and delivery persons, continue working tirelessly to serve others.
TICA wants to recognize all the hard working individuals out there that are putting their health at risk for us every single day! Each week we will highlight a member from a different TICA Region who is working to keep us safe. This week TICA extends a big Thank You and shines the spotlight on TICA South Central member Jonna Inman.
Jonna has been a Family Nurse Practitioner at North Medical Clinic and North County Hospital in Kansas for the past nine years and has been a Nurse Practitioner for 23 years.
Jonna breeds Havanna Browns and Singapura cats and is an active member in the TICA Kansaskatz Cat Club, Kansas City Cat Club, Yellow Rose Cat Cub, and High Country Cat Club. She also serves as a TICA South Central Deputy Regional Director representing the state of Kansas.
Jonna, along with Jackie Rose, were the masterminds behind creating and implementing TICA’s virtual shows when stay-at-home orders were called for most of the world. They devised the plan as a means to bring members and fanciers together while also raising much-needed funds for Regions at the same time. Jonna has worked with all the regional representatives to organize every show. She is also the representative for the South Central Region, and is one of the show planners for the South Central virtual show on April 25-26.
Join us in thanking Jonna!
